National Contact Person Meeting under OIE/JTF Project on FMD Control in Asia

OIE/JTF project on FMD Control was launched during the Inception Meeting of the project in December 2012. The meeting strongly agreed that Roadmap for FMD control in East Asia be developed and National Contact Person (NCP) from each member is appointed to participate in the drafting process.

With this connection, OIE Regional Representation for Asia and the Pacific organized National Contact Person Workshop, during 14-15 August 2012, in Tokyo to exchange information on national strategy on FMD control and to discuss the development of FMD Regional Roadmap for East Asia. NCPs were also invited to visit Exotic Diseases Research Station, National Institute of Animal Health (NIAH), the OIE Collaboration Centre, in order to gather ideas to develop collaborative strategies and activities contributed to FMD control.

Specific objectives of the Workshop were:

  • To share information on National Strategy on FMD Control
  • To self evaluate of the FMD control progress in accordance to PCP pathway
  • To create a process to develop FMD Roadmap for East Asia
  • To develop collaborative strategies and projects contributed to FMD control in the East Asia.
