SEACFMD Epi-net Meeting & East Asia Contact Persons Meeting

Yogyakarta, 5-6 April 2018

OIE is organising the SEACFMD Epidemiology Network Meeting in conjunction with the 2nd East Asia Contact Persons Meeting in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on 5-6 April 2018.

The SEACFMD Epidemiology Network (EpiNet) aims to establish sustainable epidemiology networks within the region for its mission to harmonize the approaches for disease surveillance and control in the SEACFMD region. The SEACFMD Epidemiology Network Meeting to be held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on 5-6 April 2018 will be a follow up to the last joint SEACFMD Epidemiology and Laboratory meeting organized in 2015, so as to take the process forward and consolidate the past initiatives and recommendations. The meeting will also discuss the technical constraints in FMD situation analysis in the country, implementation of risk-based control strategies, and new tools that can be used to strengthen the epidemiological investigation of FMD outbreaks and risk analysis.

The purpose of holding these meetings together is to allow participants from East Asia to attend as observers the SEACFMD Epidemiology Network meeting and share information among South East Asia and East Asia members, before holding a separate meeting for East Asia members, to discuss the coordination on key priority areas identified by the East Asia CVO forum. The key areas identified are FMD, HPAI, PPR, Rabies, CSF and AMR. The meeting will focus on epidemiology and laboratory issues relating to Foot and Mouth Disease and Avian Influenza, as well as on the identification of leading laboratories and institutes in East Asia in these priority areas.
