4th FAO/OIE Sub-Regional Meeting on GF-TADs for SPC Members

Nadi, Fiji, 28-30 November 2017

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) are organising with the support of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) Land Resources Division and Division of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine Ecosystems (FAME) the 4th FAO/OIE Sub-regional Meeting of GF-TADs for SPC Members in Nadi, Fiji, from 28th – 30th  November 2017, which will include workshops on terrestrial and aquatic animal biosecurity, emergency preparedness & response to disease outbreaks and disasters, and animal welfare.

The objectives of the Meeting are to:
1.    Provide/share updates on GF-TADs work in the SPC region and globally;
2.    Review the Conclusions and Recommendations of the 2015 meeting as well as the Regional Action Plan for Asia and the Pacific.
3.    Provide technical training and practical assistance in areas relevant to SPC members.
4.    Discuss issues, challenges and possible solutions pertaining to implementation of GF-TADs activities.
5.    Agree on some regional strategies to increase engagement and awareness among SPC members and improve animal health and welfare, emergency preparedness and biosecurity practices, and disease investigation.
