The IDENTIFY Project

IDENTIFY was one of the four components of the USAID Emerging Pandemic Threats (EPT) Programme implemented by OIE, FAO and WHO. IDENTIFY was a five-year project that ended in 2014. It helped develop laboratory networks and strengthened diagnostic capacities in geographic hotspots for known, as well as newly emerging and re-emerging diseases in the region. OIE’s activities focused on establishing coherent National Level Frameworks to guide rational and sustainable development of laboratories. Key activities in this area included the development of National Animal Health Laboratory Strategic Plans;  development of a decision making tool and mission for Veterinary Services and Animal Health Laboratories; and institution of Laboratory Focal Points and training.
