4th Coordination Committee Meeting under OIE/JTF Project for FMD Control in Asia

The OIE/JTF Project on FMD Control in Asia was launched in 2011.  The Project is an initiative of the OIE and the Japanese Government, aiming at promoting information sharing on FMD in the region, developing strategies and establishing a Roadmap for FMD Control in East Asia, strengthening capacity of diagnosis and improving FMD control measures at national and regional level.

OIE Regional Representation for Asi and the Pacific organised the 4th Coordination Committee Meeting in Tokyo, Japan, on 9-10 June 2015.

The main objectives of the meeting were to: i) discuss the FMD Roadmap for East Asia; ii) exchange scientific information; iii) exchange information on national FMD strategies and implementation; iv) report the progress; v) extend the Project towards other emerging issues in the region; and vi) explore they way forward.

Total of 47 participants attended the meeting, comprising 26 representatives from 6 Member Countries of the Project, namely China PR, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Korea RO, Mongolia and Chinese Taipei as well as representatives from Laos and Myanmar, experts on FMD and other transboundary animal diseases, representatives from the OIE Headquarters, Regional and Sub-Regional Representations, observers and interns.
